Florey Primary School

Florey Primary School opened its door to children on Wednesday 1st February 1989.

The school has a unique design with separate buildings containing teaching spaces, administration offices, library and general purpose facilities. It has been designed to cater for 460 children in four learning units which are known as "Units". Each unit has four teaching spaces, a practical room for art and craft, a withdrawal room for small group work, a storeroom and staff office, as well as a small carpeted common area. Interactive white boards have recently (May 2006) been installed in each of the four main units, with a view to purchasing additional IWBs in the near future. Two transportable buildings have also been provided to accommodate students in four classrooms. Each transportable contains a storeroom, staff office and a small common area.

The design suits both co-operative team teaching or individual teaching styles. The style of teaching may vary from unit to unit and is a decision made by the respective teachers in consultation with the Principal.

Other spaces available include the school hall which is used for physical education classes, music, fitness and assemblies, a multi-purpose room, the library/resource centre and a computer room.

The Principal, Deputy Principal, Executive Teachers, Office Staff, Building Services Officer and Counsellor all have offices in the Administration Block. The Staff Room and Music Room are also to be found in this building.
