About Florey Primary School P&C
The name of the organisation is Florey Primary School Parents and Citizens (P&C) Association Incorporated. The P&C was incorporated on 21 September 1982 in Canberra, ACT. The main objective of the P&C is to provide a forum where students, teachers and parents/carers can co-operate and contribute to the achievement and development of the goals and policies of the school in line with the ACT public schooling.
By way of background, Florey Primary School was established in Florey, Canberra in 1989. The school is named after Howard Walter Florey, the famous scientist, who produced Penicillin for use in World War Two. It is an outstanding school that enjoys a rich variety of cultures and backgrounds. The multicultural nature of the school provides students with a unique opportunity to interact with students from approximately 40 The P&C gives parents a unique opportunity to become involved in their children's education right from the start of his/her schooling. The P&C is responsible for providing parent input into school decision making, as well as providing important services for parents and students -- including fund-raising activities and the Uniform Shop.
At P&C meetings parents:
- Are updated by the Principal as an ex-officio member of the P&C about issues affecting their child's education and what is happening in the school.
- Raise and discuss issues of concern with other parents, the Principal, Deputy Principal and Teachers.
- Have their say on how to raise more money for the school and how to spend P&C fundraising money wisely.
- Have the opportunity to have their say on how the P&C operates its services.
Your P&C needs parents/carers' constant support in order to serve the school community better. Therefore, you are invited to attend the P&C meetings to raise issues of concern and be updated on what is happening in your school. Work in the P&C is voluntary, which means that every parent/carer dedicates a bit of his/her spare/free time to a good cause, namely assistance to the school and by extension to his/her child or children.
